Of Lions and A Hotel

My husband was invited to be a member of the Lions Quezon City Educators Club and last October 26, 2014 was his induction as a new member at the Manila Hotel. I was excited 'cause we get to dress up for the occasion. he wore a barong and I wore my black backless gown given to me by my friend Hilda. Thankful that my mom convinced me to purchase not one but two formal shoes, one silver and the other gold. I wore the silver.

When we arrived at the hotel the worship service was not over yet so we decided to explore the great Manila Hotel. I liked the gym and pool area. Not all hotels whether it is 4 stars or 5 stars have amazing pools. I most especially liked their spacious lobby with free wifi. This was my third visit to Manila Hotel. One when I was in elementary for i was invited to see Santa Clause there. The second one was when we had our JS Prom. I must say this hotel has changed a lot. I mean it has morphed into a good looking Filipina with a modern twist. But more on the "being a Filipino" side.

We were thankful the event went well. The food, the conversations, the laughter and the "selfies" were all priceless. It was one magical night for me and for my hubby.

Happy 36th DaddyLents

I am so thankful God gave you to us. Thankful for the ups and downs we've been through and the blessings and provisions we have received from God our Father. You are such a wonderful father to our baby Tala and a very supportive and understanding husband to me. You are very dedicated in your profession and a passionate servant of God. Most of all, you are God's greatest gift to me and Tala.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

My Favorite Fair

Last Thursday, September 18, 2014 Fully Booked invited our school to visit the 35th Manila International Book Fair at SMX MOA. I was with our Basic Ed librarian ma'am Nancy and her assistant Donna with five high school students who are members of the book lovers club and five elementary students who are part of the school's Barangayette. We were also joined by three other teachers namely ma'am Norie, ma'am Clare and ma'am Mhe Ann.

The first thing I did before entering the premises was to take a selfie with my friend. hehehe :-)

At Fully Booked, we have chosen new sets of books for our library. We let the students do the choosing since they are the ones who will be spending time in the library to read. And I am glad that majority of our students are into reading.

I bought two lovely books from Fully Booked and a pretty photo album for my Tala and her dozens of pictures.

After shopping, we had lunch and thank you again Fully Booked for sponsoring our lunch.

Our next bookstore was National Bookstore. I was able to buy 3 new books for my baby Tala at a very affordable price. And I was also able to get  a free pen from Titus Pens by simply liking their facebook page.

Whenever I go to a bookfair I never forget to visit Ilaw ng  Tahanan Pulishing, OMF Literature Inc. and Shepherd's Voice Publishing and other publishing houses that sells inspirational books.

In Tahanan Publishing i bought 2 books and a lot of stationery and calendar planner. I usually buy a lot to give as presents for the new year. I love their unique quotes and books with funny Filipino practices. Even their paperbag is cool and pretty.

Thank goodness some of the books at Shepherd's Voice are worth 50 pesos only since it was a throwback one well, i mean it's an old stock from last year. So i bought two.

Next one that i visited was the OMF Literature. I just bought three  inspirational books that i can afford. Most of the books cost more than three hundred and i need to budget my money.

Before going home we signed on the doodle board and had our pictures taken with Aki the book.

This day was definitely a good and productive one. Hopefully next year i will be able to go back and find inspiration in all the books that i will find.

We celebrated our Linggo ng Wika last August 29, 2014 and the highlight of our activity was the Lakambini ng Wika contest. Our representative in fourth year Nous was Bb. Alimbuyugin. Although she didn't win she was able to deliver her message regarding the importance of our wikang Filipino. We are so proud of you Rochelle!

Count your blessings

Always give thanks to The Lord for all the blessings and gifts He has bestowed upon us.

One special day for my mama and me

May 9, 2014

May is a very special month for me and my mom for we get to celebrate Mother's Day and my birthday. It's a little more special for me cause Mother's Day falls exactly on my birthday. Yipee!
We celebrated our pre Mother's Day and birthday together with my ate Eya in tow. I decided to treat my mom and sis in TGI Fridays, Trinoma.

My CUTE momma!

I ordered my favorite Jack Daniels Salmon,

my mom ordered pasta and ate had their Filipino pork liempo and we all had chicken Caesar salad.

I love their honeydew spa drink. It consists of honeydew, pear, apples and honey. Mama ordered the strawberry gold medalist and ate tried the apple, carrot spa drink which according to my mom was my dad's favorite drink back when he used to juice fruits and veggies ( yes, juicing is old school for us ). I told them not to rush so we an savor and enjoy every minute of our stay at Fridays. I justice the ambiance and the color and the lighting of the place it's so homey and cozy.

Mama donya! Happy Mothers Day!

We all arrived there early so the place was all ours and the services was superb! Too bad ate can't stay with us for our next agenda. So, what's next in our itinerary?
My last mani and pedi session was four years ago, a day before my wedding. That's why I included in my plan a visit to a nail spa still in trinoma called Nail Tropics.

We got there at 1pm so I was beginning to worry it might be jam packed but lo and behold, there were two vacant seats. Oh lucky us! It really was our special day! I love the ambiance and the comfortable seats! I feel like a princess being dolled up all over again. Mama had the executive paraffin which costs 720 and I just got the classic mani and pedi which costs 350. Mama chose the nail polish color champagne and I had the Topaz color whose color was near the color of my nail polish when I got married four years ago.

Well I think it's just appropriate since I'm going to attend my friend's wedding the next day. All kikay services made us hungry so we went straight to the pancake house for merienda. Mama craved for some Spanish omelet and I had country medley pancakes.

Here we bonded like time stood still for us. We laughed and talked about the past, present and the future.

I love and cherish moments like these with my mama. God knows how much I love her.
I know mama enjoyed and appreciated my Mother's Day gift for her. Oh wait I forgot, I always celebrate Mother's Day when I'm with her.

Labor Day Faculty Outing April 30-May1,2014

April 30 th was a wednesday. Meaning, we need to go to church first before going to Zambales for our yearly faculty outing. Our departure time from school is 6:30 am. Our pagsamba is from 5:45 am to 6:45 am. Luckily, the bus would drive by our kapilya so there's no need for us to go to school. We were fetched at around 7:00am. The trip was long but not a boring one. Since our bus was big there's only a few of us ( around 20 people in a 65 seater bus ) we had all the extra space for our selves. The bus became one hell of a playground for some of my young colleagues.

At last we arrived at our resort just in time  for lunch. We had tilapia, rice and ensalada. We stayed in pundaquit luxury resort and it was homey and I loved it! One and a half hours later I decided to take a dip in their lovely pool. The water level is from 4 feet to 7 feet. It's a good thing they have a kiddie pool! Hehehe! My friends were surprised to see me in the pool 'cause it was still scorching hot. Well that's me! I usually swim when it's very hot and when the sun is still up. Just look at my pics. I am now darker than ever!

Around 4:30 pm the sun started to disappear and that's the time my friends decided to go swimming while I showered and went straight to the rooftop to witness the sunset.
You can tell from my pics that I enjoyed the sunset in pundaquit.

Looking down I saw our dinner being cooked. We had grilled stuffed pusit, rice and mangoes (not on set).
After dinner, we had our bonding time, leisure time and sleep time ( for me ).

The next day, we needed to leave early for our island hopping. We first went to Capones island where the lighthouse is located. I was hesitant at first to go up and decided to just stay on the shore. But what the hell I was already there so I might as well go for it! Here are the pictures of the trail to reach the lighthouse.

The lighthouse was old and rusty. It didn't occur to me that the spiral staircase might break due to rust cause I was too darn excited to reach the top.
After the spiral staircase, you still need to climb one diagonal ladder and one vertical ladder. Boy that vertical ladder made my knees weak and shakey!

At last we reached the top! Upon seeing the sea, the cliff and the shore it just came to me that God is so wonderful He made all these beautiful scenery for us to appreciate His creation.
As you can see from the pics, we had our selfies galore and selfies all the way!!!

Our next destination is at a nearby island still in Capones. The sand was white, the pebbles were not too rough and the water was crysal clear, clean and cool.

Our next destination was anawangin. Well it's my second time to be in this island. Just check out my previous blog about anawangin.
The first time we went we stayed at the far right of the island. We isolated ourselves cause we really want to escape the hussle and buzzle of the city life. Now for the second time, we were able to stay at the left side of the island. We rented a shanty and a picnic nook. Two of my colleagues bought a duyan which we used to relax and sleep. Our location was just perfect cause it's next to a sari sari store that sells halo halo. In my opinion, their halo halo is the best! It is full of sahog! Better than Razons. Hehehe!

Majority of us just slept and relaxed all the way! We left anawangin at around 4pm and returned to our resort. Some went swimming in the pool while others decided to prepare to go home. We left pundaquit with joy and content in our hearts. We were all thankful for the time given to us for us to relax, unwind and bond with our colleagues. I hope this years faculty outing would help energize us to face another school year.
